David Heyman, head producer of the
Harry Potter films, and now confirmed executive producer of the upcoming
Harry Potter MAX series, commented briefly on the status of the reboot of J.K. Rowling's novels while promoting his upcoming feature
Wonka.
Quote:
"[On Harry Potter] It’s early days," Heyman tells Total Film. "We haven’t even hired a writer to begin writing. It’s a bit early. But hopefully [it will be] something that’s very special, and gives us an opportunity to see the books, and to enjoy a series which explores the books more deeply."
It should be noted that due to the current Writers' Strike in the U.S., even if the series had a writer they wouldn't be able to begin writing for the series given guild rules during a strike. Meaning that even if a head writer and showrunner are being scouted by Warner Bros., until the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes are sorted, nothing really can happen with this production.
For now this is the tiniest of bits of information regarding the series, and more probably won't be available until next year.
