Which was seemingly impossible considering that curly-haired tumbleweed was grinning at him and Ezra was encouraging it. He simply rolled his eyes and turned away in the hopes that she would take the hint, even if Ezra was all but ready to make new friends HE was not.
Ezra was an expert at finding which buttons to push to wind up Elias but he supposed it was the duty of the big brother to do exactly that. Elias would therefore in turn replicate the same with the younger siblings when it was their turn to attend school. “But that’s different! I don’t look like a fluffy creature, you look like a toad.” The little smirk that followed was peak Elias getting his own way. “Anyway I thought you’d want something ‘cooler’ than a Puffskein?” Did he WANT others to make fun of him?!
Thankfully the bear hug hadn’t lasted long and as soon as he was released from Ezra’s grip he stepped away leaving some distance between them as if to say that they weren’t related and they’d never met each other before. He did his best to straighten up his clothes too, their Grandpa had always taught them that the way they represented themselves publicly was extremely important. “You could always leave me here” he retorted starting his peruse of the shelves. Yes indeed, little brother. Ezra was ready to make as many new friends as possible. A difficult feat when your shadow for the day was Mr Grumps here. He missed his two best friends from Durmstang terribly—they were all on the same wavelength--but that was the one and only thing he missed about the place, except maybe the cool uniform. He was ready to start afresh in his new school (and new uniform) and making any friends along the way before he started would be a boon. He gave Miss Curly Hair a friendly wave - a silent apology for Eli's rude eyerolling. “I do not look like a toad! I don't have ANY warts.” None. Nowhere. Eli was such mean spirited goblin sometimes. It made Ezra sad that they couldn't just get along. It would involve lots of give and absolutely no take on Ezra's part, and he wasn't mature enough to even consider that.
Besides that.. the age gap was tiny - there were only a few months between the two mini Greenwoods. Their maturity levels, currently, were pretty much on par, albeit at different ends of the spectrum. “Oh but you do look like a small fluffy creature. One trying to look big and tough and mighty, but failing. Miserably.” He shrugged. “If you're gonna be mean and name your toad after me, then I'll return the favour.” Hmph. As for wanting something cooler, then yes, point taken. “I need to see what they've got.” Ezra would take the whole menagerie if he could. PLUS there was nothing wrong with puffskeins. They were cute and loveable little creatures that didn't need too much care. Perfect for a twelve year old.
Nope. Not going anywhere. Sorry, Puffwood. “Mum told us to stick together, and if we lose each other to meet IMMEDIATELY at the fountain.” Ezra needed books too. He checked the list and went to find them, making sure not to lose sight of Eli in the process.
