But not quite, because she found that this was actually what was going to finish her off.

This alley. With its grimy cobbles and too many people. Fiorenza could see how, in some lights, it might seem cute. But in the English summer (pah, she could hardly believe it was fit to be called summer) and with the school kids milling around, this eleven year old couldn't see it. The bell over the door of the bookshop had chimed with an irritating joviality, and Fio's scowl deepened.

Leaving Nonno and her list with a store clerk at the front of the shop, she started to wander through the shelves. Where was the genealogy section?
Being twelve, and a troublesome resident only on a part time basis - and today being definitely not one of those days - Yves was free to peruse the shops on his own, and take charge of the role of buying those school supplies he did not already have access to. Provided he arrived back at the meeting point on time, and of course he fully intended to do so.

He had become sidetracked in his quest for school books, however, by a detour to the history section and the surrounding areas. Bypassing books like The Pureblood Directory and Nature's Nobility, which were of little use to him, he scanned the shelves for something that would be helpful... without really knowing what that could be. Even just on the spines of these books, there were a lot of words which, despite almost two years being based in this country, he was not very familiar with. Specialist words, maybe, the kind any boy his age was unlikely to know. He hoped so, otherwise he was getting a taster of one of the difficulties he might end up facing at Hogwarts.

A heavy tome on a bottom shelf caught his eye, the word 'French' snaring his attention at once. Yves crouched down and pulled it out, opening the book on the floor rather than attempt to stand and leaf through it. This wasn't a library, as he well knew, so he was sure to keep an eye out for shop workers coming and going nearby as he browsed the index of French wizarding families, looking automatically for the name 'Flamel' even though he knew by now that he was not one by blood.

Yves glanced up when he heard footsteps nearby, ready with his defence that he was just looking to see if the book was something worth buying. When he realised they belonged to another customer about his age, he relaxed again, and smiled instead.
