The timid upcoming first year pushed his way delicately through the students already gathered in the Magical Menagerie, trying his bestest to not bump into anyone and also not infringe on anyone looking at potential pets. He really really WANTED a pet, but the problem was he and Gilly hadn't 100% convinced their mum that it was an absolutely NECESSITY. Which he was still blaming on the fact he had yet to pick out the perfect one. Did he want an owl? A toad? A Jarvey? There were just SO many possibilities and it was really HARD to show he was responsible and knew exactly how to take care of his new friend if he couldn't take a page from his sister's book and provide a full report on exactly how to care for the creature.
So that was Mandrake Beery's goal for the day. To scout and search for the perfect companion so that he could go home and make another appeal. His days were dwindling as summer passed him by, so the sooner he could figure it the better.
He was just working on passing by the rabbits, trying to get over towards the rats which he could see in his eye line - a spot fairly uninhabited except by a single boy (Sohrin) at the moment, except this was where his best efforts to not nudge anyone all went awry. There were two girls (Maebry and Phoebe) standing in front of the bunnies and it appeared they were hugging, so he tried to careeeefully ease around them. But of course it was just his luck, he accidentally nudged into the purple backpack of the one and he FROZE as he did so, hoping beyond hope he hadn't disturbed their moment.
He went to whisper a quick apology, just in case he did bother them but also not loud enough TO bother them if he hadn't already, but it was then he realized both of the girls seemed to be in tears??? "I'm so- ... Are you guys okay??" His first thought was maybe there was a poor sick bunny in the display so he popped his head around them quickly to see if that was the case. Except... everyone looked alright???
