Miss Maebry was on a Mission! She hadn't gone missing exactly, but she had snuck away from the siblings who had come out with her today. She wasn't going to have them all with her all of the time when she was at Hogwarts so she needed to get used to being on her own and not feeling lonely about it. And she had a mission! A very, very, very super top secret mission that no one in the Grimaldi family could know about.
Maebry was getting a pet.
She had her disguise on again. Her blonde Taylor Swift wig (debut era, of course) and big daisy flower sunglasses. And as always with a disguise, she was wearing shoes. There was no way she could get recognised when she was on her own. Esme had always warned about them going out on their own away from the group because it was so, so risky. They didn't know who was around, they didn't know what would happen to them or even if they would come back. The wise words of Esmerelda Grimaldi: "someone will kidnap you if you are alone, Maebry Aralyn."
No one would kidnap her if she was buying a pet! And in disguise!
She tried her best to not come across as the most most most excited, but as someone who had never had a pet that wasn't a ladybird she found on a flower, it was very difficult. Maebs thought about how Win would act, how Rhaps and Cel and Bron and Alli and Pri would pretend they weren't bothered. She tried to copy that. A little bit of Cel's confidence - she knew why she was here and what she was doing! A little bit of Win's wariness - you had to make sure you knew what everyone around you was doing. A little bit of Bron's-- okay, none of Bron's brain, because she would probably get distracted and kidnapped!!! The problem was... Maebry was Maebry and it was very hard for her to be one of her older siblings when her heart was already thudding with how much love she had for the pet she hadn't even met yet. Her eyes were already twinkling with the happiest of tears because she was in the same building as her newest best friend. And her ten year old hands were balled into excited fists as she whizzed around the shop trying to find the best best best best best choice.
"A rabbit! I want-- oh wow wow wowowowowooooowww" Were castle rabbits a thing? Huh. Maybe she should have read her own Hogwarts information instead of letting Gen or Win handle it...
