"Perhaps, though Poppy adores the company of others and considers herself to be quite the lap piglet. Afraid her affections would muddy your lovely dress were she here," he smiled and settled his hat back into a comfortable position atop his head. "Have you already ordered? Or may I perhaps have the honor of doing so for you." And himself, naturally. Hopefully their vegan options had grown since his last visit - hard to go wrong with a good sorbet. The reasoning behind Ruby’s fluctuating ‘Aura’ dear Jericho was that this Mediwitch had concentrated on her career and aiding others so much that she had completely forgotten to prioritise herself. Therefore dates like this, if you could call it a ‘date’ and not just a greeting of consenting adults, were not exactly her forte. Still, she tried to remain calm and composed on the outside even with the butterfly charm dancing around in her stomach.
The number of strings Jericho had to his bow fascinated Ruby. A world class duellist, a motivational speaker, a rescuer of animals, it almost seemed as if he would have no time for himself either and yet he breathed an air of self-confidence and assurance that wasn’t even remotely touching on arrogance. It was the sort of personality that drew you in and captivated your attention for a long time. Ruby wore her heart on her sleeve and unfortunately her altruism could easily be taken advantage of if given to the wrong individual. “Oh I have no qualms over getting muddy” she tittered. “I grew up surrounded by horses, mucking out the stables was one of my chores.” She might’ve looked pulled together but ordinarily she wasn’t always so perfectly groomed. That was her sister Tabitha’s influence who had insisted that Ruby make a good impression by looking as feminine as possible. Truth be told the former Ravenclaw was much more at home in jeans and a t-shirt but she didn’t want Jericho to think that he was unworthy of making the effort. “Perhaps we should’ve met at your farm rather than at Florean’s” To be quite honest walking around a sanctuary fussing animals sounded rather appealing, just not the typical ‘first date’.
The decision over which flavour she would be purchasing hadn’t been particularly difficult. “Not yet but please don’t judge me for my mundane choice in ice cream flavours. I’d love a scoop of Mint Chocolate Chip” The giggle that came afterwards was a little sheepish. There would be no adventurous taste palette from this side of the table. Jericho might have been pleased to know that Ruby herself was brought up and still remained a vegetarian although the step up to veganism had yet to be considered.
