59. Ignore

Feelings was she was adept at dealing with. Her sister had been better at it but as older sister, her role was comforter.

So when she was in her early 30's and received a call from her sister, hysterical with news, she didn't react emotionally. She said what had been needed to hear, she hugged when required, and she prepared for the funeral.

She ignored everything in her own heart.

And when her leave was over and she was at her desk approving new greenhouse plans, the water droplets staining the page as she signed away..
