The term was over, and so were her bloody OWLs, and she was no longer the new transfer student who occasionally lost her way around the castle. Her troubles with adjustments aside, she had come to really like Hogwarts. She even had some summer plans with her friends too, which were always things worth getting excited over. Among other things, of course.
She was appreciative about having a day out with Rora and Ma Layla today, even if it had to be in bustling Diagon Alley. While Ariadne was a people person, she knew when a crowd was too much, and the Alley during the summer was always exactly that. Ariadne liked being at home too, but there was only so much one can do there and she didn't want to keep watching Darcy doing her usual cat things all day. Her constant cuddling with the cat had probably already annoyed the poor thing. Besides, this trip to the Alley gave her the chance to buy what she needed for the upcoming term, including new quills and inks. She'd broken a few over her quills during her unflattering moments, and all that schoolwork had dried up her favourite ink too. The blond had also skipped Madam Malkin's, since her uniform still fit perfectly well when she tried it on earlier, though she still had her opinions on the school skirt. And the uniform, in general. Hard not to when one has worn the silks of Beauxbatons'.
Spotting Rora while on the way to Ma Layla, Ariadne placed a hand on her sister's shoulder and gave it a gentle squeeze. Rora is tiny, but Ariadne would never miss her face in a crowd. "Found you," the sixteen year old said, smiling down at the younger Ackerly. "Are you done shopping? It might also be the best time to decide on what flavour you want, for the ice cream." It's not everyday they had ice cream in the Ackerly residence, even though she and Rora had probably gone overboard all term for such a guilty pleasure. What Ma Layla didn't know won't hurt her.
It didn’t take long of waiting around the entrance for Ariadne before the familiar blonde turned up. Aurora was grateful that she wasn’t going to look like a lemon anymore waiting by herself and being asked by several passers-by whether she was okay or lost. Admittedly, the petite blonde wasn’t the best with directions and in the first couple months of attending Hogwarts had managed to get herself lost on the moving staircases or down the corridors in which in her opinion all looked much the same apart from a few strange paintings! Still, she had managed to survive her first year without being late for a lesson because she had wandered into the charms classroom rather than another.
Her older sisters appearance had given her a little fright having been facing the opposite direction to where the older Ravenclaw had appeared. She squealed a little after feeling the hands on her shoulders but changed to a relieved smile as she heard that familiar voice.
“I was waiting for you,” she giggled. The sisters were extremely close to one another and the blonde looked up to Ari always. She had thankfully been spared from the stress that Ariadne had been feeling over the past couple of months.
“I think I’m finished” she replied, pondering over the fact that she hadn’t brought a pen or a quill with her and therefore couldn’t tick off from her list what she had already bought. As for ice cream flavours, that was a BIG decision and she had not decided exactly what it was she wanted.
“Maybe cookies and cauldron cakes? Or maybe lemondrop? OR treacle fudge!” If it was up to her she’d probably get all three but the likelihood of her Ma letting her have three scoops was very small.
Speaking of their Ma, it was probably time they headed in rather than leaving the poor woman waiting.
“Shall we go sneak up on her?” she giggled.
