She was grateful for the fact that she was now self employed and therefore could choose her own hours to work and was far more flexible during the school holidays when the girls would be home. The former Ravenclaw had trusted her children to go shop by themselves for an hour whilst she sat in the Leaky Cauldron conducting some work for her personal training clients. It was all workout schedules and nutrition plans, something she was sure the girls wouldn’t be interested in sitting with their Ma doing. She may have regretted the decision to let her youngest daughter Aurora off on her own later when she likely came home with something completely unnecessary like a bright pink Pygmy Puff or some other magical creature that the family definitely didn’t need. Ariadne was much more trustworthy and seemed to be taking her education seriously, not that Layla would ever pressure her to do well, there was already enough pressure on a sixteen year old girls shoulders.

Upon leaving the Leaky Cauldron, Layla headed towards Florean’s five minutes before the scheduled meeting time. Ordinarily she wouldn’t encourage eating ice cream but it was a week before Aurora’s birthday, the weather was pleasant and it was a central location that they’d be able to navigate to easily. Bambi was at work in the Ministry but the blonde was hoping that she would be able to join them on her break at some point. She chose a table outside to wait on before ordering.

Aurora had actually listened to her Ma and had stuck to her shopping list despite the extremely CUTE things she had seen out and about that she reeeeally wanted to buy but had refrained herself from doing so. She would convince her Mom to take her shopping for muggle clothes later that week for their holiday, she was much easier to influence with her sweet smile and batting eyelashes. Aurora was also perfectly on time as she arrived at the ice cream parlour, a fact that she was extremely proud of for the young Ravenclaw could be easily sidetracked when she was on her own.

Skipping into Florean’s for it wasn’t often that the Ackerly’s were allowed to indulge in ice cream, the eleven (very almost twelve) year old spotted her Ma instantly amongst the small crowd. Bright blonde, tall and usually pretty casually dressed, Layla was easy to find. She however waited a second to see if her sister would arrive first.
Ariadne Ackerly was always in a better mood when it was summer. Her fifth year, her first one in Hogwarts, had been a mess to put it simply, and a lot of it she was happily ready to leave behind. The term was over, and so were her bloody OWLs, and she was no longer the new transfer student who occasionally lost her way around the castle. Her troubles with adjustments aside, she had come to really like Hogwarts. She even had some summer plans with her friends too, which were always things worth getting excited over. Among other things, of course.

She was appreciative about having a day out with Rora and Ma Layla today, even if it had to be in bustling Diagon Alley. While Ariadne was a people person, she knew when a crowd was too much, and the Alley during the summer was always exactly that. Ariadne liked being at home too, but there was only so much one can do there and she didn't want to keep watching Darcy doing her usual cat things all day. Her constant cuddling with the cat had probably already annoyed the poor thing. Besides, this trip to the Alley gave her the chance to buy what she needed for the upcoming term, including new quills and inks. She'd broken a few over her quills during her unflattering moments, and all that schoolwork had dried up her favourite ink too. The blond had also skipped Madam Malkin's, since her uniform still fit perfectly well when she tried it on earlier, though she still had her opinions on the school skirt. And the uniform, in general. Hard not to when one has worn the silks of Beauxbatons'.

Spotting Rora while on the way to Ma Layla, Ariadne placed a hand on her sister's shoulder and gave it a gentle squeeze. Rora is tiny, but Ariadne would never miss her face in a crowd. "Found you," the sixteen year old said, smiling down at the younger Ackerly. "Are you done shopping? It might also be the best time to decide on what flavour you want, for the ice cream." It's not everyday they had ice cream in the Ackerly residence, even though she and Rora had probably gone overboard all term for such a guilty pleasure. What Ma Layla didn't know won't hurt her.
