SPOILER!!: Brandon! <3

The kappa ignored the one cucumber... so he threw the other one too. Please like this one better! "Do you have a cucumber too?" he asked Vera, drawing his wand since he had no cucumbers anymore.

Not that he knew how to use it much. But it made him feel safer.

Brandon really shouldn’t let Vera’s question distract him. “GRRRRRRRR!” The Kappa had opened its mouth to really let loose an almighty and intimidating growl though it was only slightly appeased by cucumber number two. Perhaps you bought some time to subdue it? Or perhaps a third cumber would do the charm? It was just possible this Kappas was glutton.

SPOILER!!: Desiree! <3

She didn’t know much about DADA, but she did know her spells! Tucking that idea into the back of her mind for now, she listened to the instructions. They had to bring their bags to the front? Hmm, not where she thought this was going, but she’d bite.

All along, Desiree thought the activity was going to be taking turns feeding cucumbers to the kappa in the tank - Gherkin, as one of her classmates (Mercer) named him. She wondered why they needed to drop off their bags for that, but she obeyed anyway. Her blue eyes widened in amazement as Khanna wandlessly transformed the furniture into fake kappas. Wow, that was so cool! So much for feeding cucumbers then…

Desiree wasn’t sure whether the fake kappas were more or less scary than the real one, but she was glad Professor Khanna was around if she needed help. Knowing her, she probably would! She approached the nearest replica, already formulating a plan: create a distraction, then try to drain the water from the kappa’s head. Turning slightly to one side, so as to hide her wand while still keeping an eye on the kappa, she tucked the cucumber into the pocket of her robes. “Geminio,” she whispered, casting a duplication charm on the cucumber.

Tucking away the real cucumber as a failsafe, Desiree set the fake one on the floor in front of the replica, watching its reaction. Hopefully it would take the bait and bend down to pick up the fake cucumber…

This Kappa was not really that brilliant. It did see her turn, and could have taken that moment to attack but… yes. It hadn’t thought of that. Its piercing gaze focused on Desiree, awaiting her move. Or was it sizing up the situation in an attempt to determine the best course of action? Did either of those questions matter when there was a CUCUMBER? Without a split second's hesitation, the Kappas was upon the vegetable. It cramped the thing into its mouth and began to chew.

Such deliciousness.

Dhruv was impressed by what they saw so far: from the teamwork to the talking of strategies to the shrewdness some students were demonstrating in order to distract the Kappas. It was all quite something. There were no red sparks so far despite the Kappas growls they were hearing. They weren’t going to call out encouraging words this time; there was no need to distract the students, after all. Their gaze remained fixed on the happenings unfolding before them while toying with his shades.
