The initial slime on skin always gave her a small shiver as she got used to the uncomfortable feeling, but it was gone in seconds and she knew it was SO good for her skin that the sacrifice was well worth it. "I would say a day of indulgence is very much deserved at the start of term." The end, as well, which was why she imagined there was also SUCH large events for open and close of the school year. Indulgence. Proper starts and send offs. Much like new dormitory situations. Once her mask was securely in place, she glanced down at Lisa's offerings before carefully selecting a cookie and nibbling on it. "Mmm. These are delicious! Thank you. Did your family make these to send you with?" She was also glad to see the other girl had found something that was of interest of use for her.
Mouse continued to nibble at the cookie as the other girl talked, nodding her head along to show she was listening as she explained her family. Three older siblings, and all Hogwarts students! Well... for the most part it sounded like. "Is it hard being the youngest, or do you prefer it?" Seems like smallest would have it's perks, until it came to the graduations for older siblings. "Do one of your parents have to travel for work or does your family just like to have new experiences?" Or perhaps both - there was certainly nothing wrong with both. At the question of Beauxbatons, she nodded her head with a small smile. "My family's home was in the countryside in France though... I suppose it's just my mother's home now. My father and I moved to the UK recently, which has been okay. I have a cousin in London that it's been nice to be able to spend more time with." The divorce honestly wasn't bothering her as much as she would have expected, though perhaps it just hadn't really sunk in yet for her. "So your older two brothers are graduated? What do they do?"
“
Hear! Hear!” she cried out in agreement. Lisa also thought a day of indulgence was a necessary start to the term especially their recovery term after OWLS. “
Yes, my parents sent me off with them. Let me know if you have any questions about the treats. There’s lemon, snickerdoodle, chocolate chip cookies but there’s also Yakgwa and Vienna cookies. Yakgwa is persimmon and honey. It’s really good.” She wasn’t sure if Mouse had ever tried a cookie like that.
Would Lisa trade her position as the youngest in the family? Maybe this year was the first year that she’d consider it because she finally understood that next year it would just be here and then there would be no Nams. “
No, I like being the youngest and watch my siblings encounter life and take notes on what worked and what didn’t work,” she joked before picking up a Yakgwa cookie to munch on. “
I wouldn’t change it for the world. Do you have siblings?”
“
My Appa’s job keeps us on the move. He works for the South Korean government in the Muggle world. His work takes us loads of places but fortunately we’re able to stay in a place for a few years on assignment. Eomma runs the Nam operations and works elsewhere.” To be honest, Lisa couldn’t remember what her Eomma did but she knew Eomma was in charge at home.
As she listened to Mouse speak, she couldn’t help but pick up on the fact that Mouse’s parents were either separated by death or divorce. She opted for divorce as Mouse had said her mother had a house in France. A divorce… she couldn’t imagine her parents ever getting one. They seemed so happy… even when they adopted Solana and had tried to make another sinking work. “
It must be nice to have a cousin close by! I appreciate my cousins.” Cora, Chase, Chin-hae. It was weird to think they all ended up with C names. A quirky coincidence indeed.
Now a topic she loved to brag- er talk about- were her brothers. “
My eldest brother is a Healer in his final years of residency. He’s epic. I… He practically raised me when I was a kid. Noah was a Gryffindor here. He used to ballet dance but chose to become a Healer after the Hogwarts conflict… Y’know the war a few years ago,” she explained. She needed to write him an OWL to ask how he was. “
And and Evan. He’s off traveling the world with a good friend.. or was it girlfriend, I can’t remember? He needed a gap year. He was a Ravenclaw. Quiet, studious, stoic… but a big heart. He and I became closer at Hogwarts.”
