Had she assumed Kinsay actually meant to leave? Not at all, honestly, but Cailyn understood the feeling of being overwhelmed. She understood a lot of things, really, whether she acknowledged them was another story. But this was different. She wasn’t going to explain that she understood. She was just giving the other girl the way out. Even if it was only a temporary escape. It seemed as if most escapes at Hogwarts were temporary.
Even so, she’d rather expected a different reaction. “Of course. If you want me to”. It was a simple response, but still entirely sincere. There was no reason to lie about something like this. It was just a simple offer.
