Constant Vigilance! O_O AWAKE!

Gabriel couldn't help it. He rolled his eyes at Brody's comment, though the corner of his mouth edged upward in a reluctant smile. He didn't feel the need to return the compliment, as he presumed Brody knew how he felt. "Thank you," he muttered instead, still glancing curiously around them. Unlike Brody, though, he was more interested in the merfolk. Who knew they'd have so many different colors of hair and tails? He briefly wondered if the variations were due to the water temperature and light available in their ancestral homes, like an adaptation, or if it was purely random variation. He decided it would probably be rude to ask.

Instead, he nodded politely at the merpeople and humans he passed as he followed Brody to Ronan's table. "Good evening, Ronan," he said when they arrived, his eyes focusing on the Auror briefly before he turned to look around some more. But he was still listening, even if he was vastly more invested in this new environment than in small talk.

"Above ground person," Peggy readily admitted. "You have to admit it's very beautiful here, though," she said, in case anybody overheard and thought she was anything less than enthused about the gala. "The merpeople are very gracious hosts." As if to demonstrate, she took a sip of the drink Rosemary had handed her earlier. She gazed at the merpeople wandering in their bubbles of water inside the bubble of air inside the vast depths of the ocean. It truly was remarkable magic. Clearly more than a bubblehead charm.

She laughed lightly at Rosemary's question about the band, thinking it was a joke. "Good one," she said, smiling much more naturally than she had been before. "Though maybe I should listen to more mermish music. It's far better than some music I listened to at university," she said more seriously, though still smiling. Then, she glanced back at Airey, curious if he was still licking the barrier. It looked like an employee had joined him, though, so she decided it must just be that Mysteries eccentricity that she'd observed earlier.
