Hopefully. She sat down on her knees, grinning at the little girl. "Hi, want to be my friend?" Pretty please? This particular husky, Wynter as her tag read, was still POUTING. Ears tilted back, she was sitting and watching the other puppies playing with children while simultaneously glaring at the old gentleman. She had helped create most of the destruction which SERVED HIM RIGHT. HMPH.
But in her glancing around, one girl not yet paired with anyone caught her eye and her ears lifted with her head tilting curiously from side to side as she eyed the girl. Once the girl was down on her knees, Wynter had bounded herself forward from seated position and pranced over to the girl, tongue lolling. Hi, yes, provide endless affection and pets and would happily be FRIENDS. SPOILER!!: Ashburry-Hawthorne and Evans Quote:

She still was determined to hold one before the end of the year. But Cooper was right, it did sound like hooves in there, and... oh, nogtails! Celyn brightened at the mentioned and giggled quietly as Cooper nudged her. This was going to be a fun lesson.
Oh! Yes, she knew about the use of pure white dogs to chase out nogtails from farms, though... she hoped they weren't actually chasing them away today. But she was very excited about working with.... puppies!! Celyn quickly covered her mouth with her hand to suppress the delighted squeal as dozens of puppies tumbled out of the barn doors. The seventh year loved puppies! "Oh.." Celyn turned to Cooper as he tucked a lock of hair behind her ear and suggested her work with his little brother. "Of course!" She gave him a reassuring smile very suddenly. "Yes of course that makes sense..." They didn't have to always work together, especially since they just had been working together in the greenhouses. And Mercer probably did need Cooper's guidance. She was sure she could offer the same to another younger student. "See you out there!"
Oh, Milo! She noticed the first year as she looked around... and decided that yes, he very likely could use a seventh year's guidance. Celyn walked over to where the younger Ravenclaw was sitting on the ground with a white puppy frolicking nearby and she took a seat next to him and gave him an extra friendly smile. "Hi, Milo! Would you like to work with me and..." She turned to the puppy and put her hands out in front of the dog so he could sniff and check her out to know she was a friend. "Leo!" Her eyes caught sight of the tag on the pup's collar. "I think he wants to play." And she was good at throwing sticks. Quote:

Assuming that this was, in fact, a dog. And it occurred to him now that possibly it wasn't.
He looked over when Mercer's brother's friend joined him on the ground, nodded, and threw the stick for the puppy(?) to fetch. "Fire sign." Leo. Likely only the name and not its actual sign - though Milo didn't know how to judge a dog(?)'s age and couldn't be certain - but maybe significant all the same. Maybe more so. Names had power.
Glancing at the girl - Celyn, that was her name, Celyn - again, Milo blinked hard and said, "Are these the demons? I was listening to something else." OH LOOK. Another human! This one female! Leo leaned forward to take a quick sniff at her offered hand, but got distracted once again when he heard her say the magic word. Stick. And while he didn’t know what the other words were surrounding, the magic word itself was enough to get an excited yap from him before he did a quick spin and hunkered down again.
Please throw. Please throw. Please.
THE BOY HAD PICKED IT UP. Another excited yap and spin while he anxiously awaited its release. Eyes FOCUSED.
Once it was out of the boy’s hand Leo was off like a rocket, bounding around the others and jumping over another dog in order to catch the stick in mid air and zoom back with it. This time, he presented it to the girl.
He was putty in their hands if they’d throw stick. SPOILER!!: Branxton Brothers Quote:

Oh! Okay, so... Cooper, this is a dog... he's like a Marshmallow. Marshmallow fluffernutter dog, this is Cooper." He tried to see if the dog had a tag, like some of the other ones did, but he was a wiggly little happy pup.
"We should see if he can do the tricks, right? Sit? Can you sit? Sit?" Mercer sat, just to show what it looked like. "Lay DOWN?" And Mercer flopped over. Wiggling was the BEST. And excessive wiggling meant more opportunities to jump at both humans and trying to give them kisses. HI YES, PLEASE ACCEPT HIS LOVE TOO. There was a tag hidden amongst all his fluff, his previous trainer not providing NEARLY enough of a bright color to be spotted.
When the younger human said words in a string at him, there was a few the pup had understood but he still stared curiously, his head cocking from side to side with each new word. It wasn't until the boy demonstrated that the dog followed suit, his butt still wiggling against the ground with the force of his tail wags.
But the lay down.... well that was just too much temptation. The pup BOUNDED forward, flopping himself across the boy.
Technically, he was laying. And perhaps this would give opportunity for the boy to see his tag named Zeus. Hoped he didn't mind all the face licks in the meantime. SPOILER!!: Adara-Stark Quote:

Because from his chats and studies with Maya, it seemed as if Lisa was the most likely culprit here? No matter though because they were moving on to talking about the demon in the room - errr grounds - that is to say nogtails. Did Apollo know what a nogtail was? Nope, but if he had to guess it had a tail. He really ought to have paid more attention to Grandpa Tanc, although he wasn't sure that he worked with those kinds of creatures? Apollo was almost sure it was more dragons, so perhaps he'd be forgiven for not reading his textbook. Heh
BUT no matter because BEFORE they got to the demon creatures, they got to play with PUPPIESSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Apollo felt like a five year old at christmas only it wasn't christmas and he was fourteen which in Arithmancy numbers is five, so suppose it fits *ahem*. His eyes darted around as his classmates started working with various puppies of all sizes, attempting to bond with them. Ooh what was that little floof ?? Striding over to a Bichon Frise, he squatted down beside it. "hiiii there... I'm Apollo." The Gryffindor cooed, "does doggy want to sit?" Hmm, maybe he should have grabbed a couple treats before approaching a dog? Someone had made an egregious error. Sasha, as this puppy dogs name tag read, was not a puppy. She was a n c i e n t in dog years. And all of the energy of the little dogs JUMPING all over her had her entirely exhausted. She’d been standing there, just watching all of them when a young boy approached her and she turned tired, yet curious eyes towards him. Was this a calm child? Would he just sit and pet her? Perhaps allow her to stretch across his lap for a mid morning snooze?
The boy asked her if she wanted to sit, and the dog gave a small bark in reply before doing as he’d asked. She’d LOVE to take a sit, thank you for asking.
Cue large dog yawn. SPOILER!!: Blackthorne and Prescott Quote:

She'd heard the name mentioned in some of the classes, but they'd never formally met. "I'm Delilah." Just in case she hadn't heard the name mentioned anywhere. Thank Merlin someone had come along to partner up with her. As a first year and someone who still didn't have a ton of friends, the whole partnering-up thing in classes was still a little nerve-racking.
She turned her attention back to the poodle, who was really starting to put on a show. "Oh, look how cute she is!" Delilah exclaimed. She squinted at the dog's tags. There was nothing wrong with Delilah's eyesight, but the puppy was turning and halfway sitting. "Can you read what her collar says?" she asked Violet. Delilah sighed and lowered the treat. "I don't think she's going to actually sit. Maybe we need to start petting her or something..." Delilah bent her legs at the knees and clapped her hands against her thighs. "Come here, girl!" She reached out a hand as if to silently ask for permission to pet her (you know, without getting bit or snapped at). Quote:

Turning her attention to the non-sitting poodle, Violet offered "Maybe try pushing gently on her rump while you say 'sit'--I think I read that in a book somewhere." And, bending down, Violet tried that very thing herself: "Sit--sit," she said in what she hoped was a firm voice, and with her right hand, firmly but gently gave the dog's rear end a push downward. Yes she WAS cute, thank you for noticing human. She nearly sat then and there, but in a show of stubbornness decided to wait for her pet too before being fully obedient. One had to show a firm hand with their humans, y’know.
The smaller one already had the right idea too it seemed though, as a hand was offered. Lola gave a happy bark, before closing the distance and nudging the girl’s hand, giving it a quick lick.
She was waiting for the younger to start petting her, when she felt a hand on her rump. Flipping her head, Lola eyed the hand before squirming away from it and moving herself to the other side of the small one and sitting beside her. Excuse you, older student! Where was her affection first!? She eyed her suspiciously. SPOILER!!: Valentine Quote:

"Professor can I partner with you?" It had worked in another lesson, so maybe it would work in this one. Cyril had been perched with a Maltese puppy alternating between pouncing gently on his back and rolling itself into his lap while he observed the students. So far, he was liking what he was seeing. There was only a few of the pups who had actually listened to instructions, whether intentionally or on accident that was unknown, but at least all the students seemed to be bonding with them. Even if listening skills weren’t on point, the bond and a dog's natural desire to protect might be enough.
Hearing Ms. Valentine call his name, he turned his attention to the young girl, softening a bit more when he noted how scared she seemed to be. She wanted to partner with him? He glanced around at the students, before looking back at the girl. “I think Ms. Valentine, that I would be a poor partner as I do need to be observing the others.” Just in case any of the pups got to be TOO much, which.. He eyed a poodle with Blackthorne suspiciously and a Great Pyrenees that he certainly hoped was not smothering the young Mr. Branxton. “It looks like Mr. Adara-Stark is still partnerless. Perhaps you’d like to join him? And I’m right here observing you and your classmates if I’m needed.”
He’d keep an eye specifically on her for comfort too, but the dog with Apollo seemed fairly docile. The best listener so far of the bunch. SPOILER!!: Anders and Marchand Quote:

He really didn’t think of a reason for it to not like him: Jude happened to have pure intentions every single moment of his life. The tactic worked! He was being sniffed at and the doggo came closer for him to pet and to read the tag. “Bess. Hi, Bess! It’s so nice to meet you!” The older Hufflepuff patted her cute little head. “You’re a pretty girl, did you know?”
Desiree was certainly right about those pointy ears! But they were all part of Bess’ beauty. “Oops. With all the doggie excitement, I forgot to grab some treats. Hang on. I’ll be right back!” Jude hastily got to his feet, grabbed the treats and was back in about a minute. “Here, Desiree. You can feed her too.” Jude shared some with his partner then held two of the treats out for Bess. Head pats were nice, and Bess’ little tail set to wagging before she shifted her body for the boy to scratch at her back. Back scratches were even BETTER. Did he also tell her she was pretty!?! What a lovely human. Could she keep him?
But nearly as soon as she’d settled that, the human had LEFT and she gave a small whine, before trotting closer to the girl. Would she stay with her? Would she pet her!?
Her dramatics were unneeded though, as the boy soon returned and she gave a wag in hello. DID HE HAVE TREATS!? She barked excitedly, making a couple of jumps up before happily gobbling down the offered food.
DELICIOUS. MORE!? OOC:
Hi friends!!! I hope you're all having as much fun as Cyril and I! I'll be posting more doggo reactions about 10pm PST and starting our second activity! Don't fret if pups haven't yet listened to your students! There is still some time during second activity as well!
