"Realllly?" Aiden asked in fascination. That boy's mum had read that to HIM, even though it was a magic book that you could only find at magic libraries and maybe magic stores. It was so weird that other kids knew all about hippogriffs before they were eleven, which is when Aiden learned. "Do you like it?" he asked, studying the cover again. It seemed like it was gonna be a really good one, like the kinda book HIS Mum would read to him at bedtime. He COULD read chapter books thank you very much, but he just LIKED picture books best. He liked looking at the pictures just as much as reading the book, so chapter books were kinda like only half a book even if they were bigger. "Quantuh mechanics?" Aiden repeated, squinting up at the older boy. What was quantuh mechanics? "Don't they fix cars?" Aiden asked, very confused. Why would they be reading textbooks about that?
There was something even more important though. "What's that?" Aiden asked, pointing at the thingy that the other boy was looking at. "Whatcha doing?" he asked, very very very curious. So curious he forgot to be scared. He wanted to take a closer look, but he also didn't want to leave the safety of his blanket now that he'd laid down on it, so he just pointed and waited for the older boy to tell him. |
