The train ride had gone decently, in truth, as Evan actually really liked to meet the incoming students. Their reactions to the school was usually enough to remind him that Hogwarts was a fun and exciting place to be, and it helped to dispel some of the dread of return that usually appeared following his second term. Meeting the first year had helped with a portion of that, but in truth... he was still feeling out of sorts as he filed into the great hall amongst his peers and settled at the Ravenclaw table.

While that pit of dread had ebbed some, there were other reasons it was still in existence. He'd felt this way before, from conversations he knew that needed to happen at some point but that he was not ready to have. And he'd probably not be ready to have ever, not that that mattered. For the first time he found himself wanting to ask someone for advice, but his friends were either dealing with their own problems and he didn't want to burden or.. they were actively avoiding him, for reasons he thought he might have been slowly figuring out. A quick glance to the Hufflepuff table, but then back to his own. That was another thing he'd have to figure later, he supposed.

For now, he would focus on how happy he was that two of his three favorite Professors had returned, one even now in the position of Headmaster. Professor Peralta was already sorely missed but he was starting to feel hopeful about the incoming professors as well. At least he could keep remain optimistic that the academic portion of the Hogwarts year had potential of going well.
