The seventh year straightened up and looked around to find those bright blue eyes looking right at her. “Hi.” Claudine was surprised to find him here beside her but it would make sense that he was, particularly if his friends had already paired off. “Fine by me. Have a seat.” She indicated to the free one beside her which had been vacated by another student a short while ago when they went to partner up.
Okay. It looked as though she definitely was not going to wiggle out and work on her own. Better make the best of it. “So.” Claudine gave the Gryffindor a small smile. It was more of a tentative one but not altogether cold. Listen, an introvert working with anyone they were unfamiliar with was no easy feat. “Have you given a thought as yet to any of the questions Hernandez put forward?” Atlas was brilliant, the Snakette knew from her observations; there would be no wishy-washy thoughts on his part. Thank the stars. “One of my initial thoughts is that using too much aconite could paralyse the drinker.” Whether it be you yourself or someone else. “I mean, I know there’s the nausea and vomiting but paralysis…” Her voice trailed off. Not being in control of yourself, no matter how short of a period, was scary.
He was fairly certain he felt a pair of pretty eyes attempting to burn a hold in the back of his head as he took a seat beside Claudine (though he almost would have rather stood but his track record with pairing up with older Slytherin ladies was not the best so he was trying his best to not drop pebbles into an otherwise still lake). It was less about his friends being paired off and more about an assessment of potions skills.
But. Anyway.
"Have I given it any thought to the question posed a minute or so ago before stressing over who to partner with?" he asked rather bluntly, feeling as though his response was probably telling enough on its own and not entirely meaning to come across as sarcastic as his tone may have implied. "Not really...besides what you just said. Though I pictured more death than paralysis." So cheerful, Atlas Flamsteed was. "Or the individual with lycanthropy kills you because the brew itself was messed up or they missed a day drinking it and their mind lost during their transformation." Another pause. "Also...I shouldn't be taking it period. Professor himself even said if you are not afflicted with lycanthropy then don't do it. So that would be my first mistake, putting something in my mouth I shouldn't."
Like a toddler.
