Penelope half-listened as the others in the room continued to talk, giving a nod of acknowledgement to Jake's statements. All of that would be done, and it sounded like Conley intended to pass the information on to ~~Professor~~ Flamsteed and Youngbird, and the Healer was preparing to bring Jane Howard to Mungo's, but Penelope's eyes kept scanning and re-scanning the room, stubbornly hoping these spells would reveal something, anything, that might-

She stepped closer, very careful not to get too close or disturb these vague silvery footprints. "Do you all see those too?" They were so faint that she almost thought she was imagining them, but she was pretty confident she wasn't. And they led toward...the cabinet. One with no keyhole, just a strange symbol... Had that always been there? She didn't know for sure, but she doubted it. So how long had it been there?
