A few days since being back and Nem was more or less caught up. The material they'd 'missed' was made up almost entirely of topics they'd already addressed, plus some they'd never been interested in but were part of the curriculum regardless. The material was easy, and Nem could blaze through the homework assignments like it was child's play, but making up missed lessons and facing the other consequences was so draining on their time and energy and left them languishing in boredom and apathy, now next to impossible to shake.
Frustration too, which was an potential issue, but not necessarily for Nem. They could - and would - make it everyone else's problem rather than their own. Now was the time they were more likely than ever to strike out; it was just a case of when, and how, or if it could be avoided, if the equation could be balanced out in time.
It was in this contradictory mood - equal parts apathy and frustration - that Nem entered History of Magic classroom that afternoon, slipping in silently behind Cambridge. They gave next to nothing away, but there was a certain something in their demeanour that those who knew them well enough - like their Head of House - might recognise as a potential red flag. They looked from Recard to the image on the board, and then shrewdly back again, before taking up their regular seat in the back corner of the room. This time, there was no chair tilting, and no window-gazing.
