She put one more piece of glitter on the mugs ear before she asked. "And you are? You work on level 2 right?" Her precious Inner Eye had warned her that she’d encounter at least one MLE employee at the orientation event. "Three mugs?" she asked bewildered. "You want to make 3 mugs i thought you said two?"Laurel supposed the man in charge would put a stop to the man’s excessive mug decorating if he felt it necessary. SPOILER!!: Jake Quote:

With the smile of someone who clearly noticed nothing at all, Jude simply nodded at the blonde and grinned without a care in the world. Well, almost. Laurel. Level 9. Now that he had a name to put to the face, he may actually stand a chance of remembering this woman. It was true that his memory was something of a sieve but if he really, really tried, there was a chance. Was he going to really try though? “Level 9? That’s uhh…the mystery place? Yeah? I think I’ve heard of that place.”
The wanderings of his mind were distracted when she mentioned him wanting to make three mugs instead of two. Was that really an issue? It was after all, only one more. “Oh, I mean…I want to? I don’t know if I should though. I want one and well, I wanted to make one for my brother too. And my parents… I’m not in their good books if ya can believe that, so I should get them one too,” the smile on his face now a little sheepish. Somehow, he always seemed to find himself in trouble. It was both a gift and a curse.
Speaking of said curse, Jude couldn’t help but cast a quick glance at his boss and grimace a little at the slight eyebrow raise. Luckily though, his new boss didn’t seem to have too much of a problem because he up and left. A sure sign that he was in the clear. Win. Turning his attention back to the task at hand and most specifically the mugs at hand, Jude continued to decorate them, adding more glitter and marker. Truth be told, he was lost in his own little world, something that often happened when he was actually busy with something that enthralled his mind. He couldn’t sit still to save his life but if he was truly interested in something and busy, he could be lost to the world for hours at a time. Another gift. It wasn’t at all surprising to those who knew him even the slightest at all that the long-haired teen didn’t turn at the sound of the clinking of the glasses and most certainly didn’t pay attention to the minister’s new speech. Although, that may have been intentional. Those sorts of speeches were always long winded and slightly tedious. SPOILER!!: Aurora Quote:

Plastering on a smile albeit a bit strained Aurora called over to [Forrest] "Good morning Mr Forrest, do you have anything from your garden that can be put in a smoothie perhaps?" SPOILER!!: Charles Quote:

"We are all very fortunate to be here today to usher in a new year and one that will serve as a catalyst for change in our wizarding world. Time will be required to heal from the damage cause by the Third Wizarding War and much progress has already been made. Laws removed and rewritten by the Neo Alliance have been rectified and, as you can see, the ambiance of the Ministry mostly restored. I am truly...deeply humbled to be able to stand before you now, reinstated as your Minister for Magic, and would not be able to do so today where it not for each and every individual who believed and fought for our cause, no matter how small the contribution. There is much work to be done and lessons to be learned...and together we will prosper. Among the changes within the Ministry itself comes in the form of your leaders..." Charles paused again, taking a breath during the transition and after announcing each member of the team would also be offering pause. It was regrettable that Fletcher had resigned from his position, but Charles understood the necessity. "In the Minister's Office, we welcome Genevieve James who has previously served the Ministry as an auror for well over two decades. In Magical Law Enforcement we have Jake Upstead, a former hit wizard and auror with two decades of experience in the department and took on the role immediately following the conclusion of the war and continues to work tirelessly in effort to bring all sympathizers and those who have committed crimes against this wizarding nation and world to justice. In Magical Accidents and Catastrophes is Raini Youngbird, who also took up the position in the weeks following the end of the war and will be leading further efforts to remove the decorative traces of the Neo Alliance around the Ministry. With the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures, we have Aurora Bagnold continuing the position and who helped lead a successful global retrieval mission of dragons who had escaped from various reserves around the United Kingdom. With the Department of Environmental Regulation & Protection, we welcome Forrest Roberts III. Conley Phora, who also assisted with the dragon retrieval mission as well as successfully lead his department in resolving numerous cases of identity theft, continues his tenure with the Department of International Magical Cooperation. The Department of Magical Transportation welcomes the exuberant Anna Marie Howard and Peggy Laplace continues with Magical Games and Sports. Thanks in part to the research of Unspeakable, Jane Howard, Airey Flamsteed also continues his role as department head for the Department of Mysteries." SPOILER!!: Announcer Quote:

Was it your imagination or was the water also turning a deep dark shade of red?
By the time Hollingberry stopped talking the entire pool was a deep crimson color and the Deathly Hallows shapes jetting from the tips of both wands certainly did not look like they had any intention of going away. Was he being a tad loud? Maybe just a little bit but it was his first proper day back after all and how would everyone know that his pancakes were the best if he did not flaunt them and sell them with his booming voice? Clearly his tactics had worked because one of his fellow Head of Departments had noticed his fresh produce. “Of course. Of course. Are you a sweet or savoury type of person Aurora? Or would you like a surprise? I’ve been told I’m an excellent judge of these things you know.” That wasn’t strictly true. Well, he said it about himself but Aurora didn’t need to know that, did she?
Just as he was about to whip something up however, the older gentleman heard the gentle tapping that signified the start of a speech and moved his hands politely behind his back as if to symbolise that he was intently listening, which he was of course. All in all, he was somewhat happy with the direction of the speech. Having only watched on from a distance as the world seemed to succumb to madness last summer, it was pleasing that the wrongs that had been done were slowly being undone.
When his ears heard the word leaders, he stood a little straighter. As name after name was introduced, he waited with baited breath. Would he have to give a speech? Sure, he’d planned to give one to his own department but not to the whole ministry! This would have taken days to plan and then he’d need his wife to check it for errors because he sure couldn’t craft a masterpiece alone.
Luckily however, there seemed to be no need for a speech. Instead, he simply raised his hand and give a small wave followed by a stern, fatherly look that he usually kept for his children when they’d attempt something stupid. The look that clearly said Are you sure you want to do that?’ but in a caring sort of way.
Just as he was about to turn back to his valued customers, his eyes began roaming the room for a weird gurgling sound. They quickly moved to the sparks that came flitting out of the Fountain of Magical Brotheren. Was it supposed to do that? He hadn’t been made aware but that was hardly a surprise. It became apparently clear however that this wasn’t planned at all when the wizards’ wands started to form a somewhat familiar shape.
Doing his best not to lose track of the speech, Forrest’s eyes continued to move around the room in search of the source of this magic. The endearing look that had previously been on his face now completely gone only to be replaced by that of a steely glare. His wife would not be happy when she found out. Noticing that others in the room had also spotted the fountain, he eyed them suspiciously, moving his gaze from person to person in search of a hint of mischief. He found none. It was like looking for a specific tentacular on.
It took him a moment for him to actually spot the red that was slowly spreading across the pool but when he did, a small sigh whistled through his lips and, with a resigned look, he undid his apron and threw it over the shoulder of his blue chequered shirt and made towards the minister, ready to offer a helping hand for whatever it was that was about to happen next. Jules really wouldn’t be happy if he returned home from work late after the first day but it was what it was. He’d agreed to come back and sometimes, you have to get your hands deep in the dirt. |
