Which hey, dealing with other college kids who didn't really want to be studying muggle studies but needed a gen-ed class wasn't exactly easy! So yes that counted in her book anyway.

"I've been hired in the Department of Mysteries." Which make her an unspeakable she thought. "But even if I knew things, which I don't since it's my first day and all, I couldn't tell you." Jeez!! Why was she babbling like a crazy person??

"What about you? Are you new to? Which department are you in." Okay ... deep breaths Dottie ... stop acting so strange!! Give the man a chance to reply. She always that the tendency to talk fast and ALOT when nervous... maybe she she start stuffing her face with pancakes then she couldn't talk .... she took a bite of one with her hands ... no syrup yet, so it wasn't messy.

Gabriel smiled when Dottie confirmed that, yes, she was new. It was reassuring to know he had good newbie senses. Especially because how embarrassing would it be if he asked someone if they were new, when in fact they'd been working at the Ministry for years or something? It would be very embarrassing.

He was so glad that wasn't the case.

"Department of Mysteries? That sounds...mysterious," he said. He'd never met someone from that department, what with it being...many many floors away, and also very secretive, or whatever. "I'm not new, no...I'm a...a third year YATI now, up in Magical Law Enforcement." It was surreal to be in his final year of the training program. If all went well, he'd be an Auror by this time next year. He paused, then asked, "What sort of student teaching did you do?"

Suddenly the Minister was speaking, though, and he redirected his attention to the old man. Blah blah, Mr. Upstead was the offial new head, other departments had new heads, okay, okay... he got distracted halfway through the speech by something seriously weird at the new fountain. Sparks? OH MERLIN. He grimaced at the Deathly Hallows shape the water started taking because hadn't they caught everybody yet? Apparently not. And when the water turned red, he pulled out his wand. Was Hollingberry done talking? He was done talking. "Uhhh...excuse me, Dottie, I should try to help," he said to his new acquaintance, before making his way toward the fountain to see if he could help investigate or something.

Sure, there were probably plenty of Real Aurors around, but maybe he could...usher people away? Keep space around the fountain? He glanced around, looking both for Mr. Upstead or even one of the Aurors, to see if there was anybody who could tell him what to do. There was a young guy from his department that he didn't know, and oh good, one of the Aurors. He didn't want to get in the way, but he was two thirds done with his training! Surely he could be useful.

"Can I help... get some of the people away from the fountain? Create a perimeter? Mr. Ronan?" he asked the Auror and other law enforcement folks who'd gathered around the fountain, spreading his arms to indicate how useful he could be.
