If Jake noticed anything in MacAfee's expression, it would have been discernible only in a slight raise of the eyebrows. So clearly he had indeed noticed something; two decades or so in law enforcement to thank for that, but the lad was safe from any kind of remark, other than a, "Have fun with that," as Jake huffed a subtle laugh to himself and left the new personal assistant to his introductions.

"Thanks," he said now to Penelope, checking over the mug; it did indeed seem to be able to watch him from all angles. "I think my subconscious is trying to tell me something." Not sure what though. Eyes everywhere? All-seeing eye? Like that Sauron fella? Milo might like this googly mug... or he'd hate it and not come within fifty feet of it. Kids, man. Anyway. That last was for Penelope's benefit or really anyone who happened to hear it, as the Auror was partaking in, ah, perhaps more important conversations than googly mug analysis. Speaking of, he looked at the other woman (Laurel) again. "No. Or maybe, I don't know. I was joking." Mostly. Jake's eyes flicked between the woman and the man (Aaron) who had arrived to join her, smiled at both, and turned his attention instead back to the room.

Just for a cursory look, and maybe another glance towards the entrances, and then the lifts. Still nothing. Merlin. Maybe he could just quietly duck out and go help. He doubted anyone would mind.

Kaiser glanced towards the Minister after the new Senior Undersecretary's comment, his expression briefly - blink-and-you'll-miss-it - pained. ".. Yes. Sometimes." No offence to Mr Hollingberry or anything, but... yeah. The man was too warm and welcoming for his own good sometimes. And understanding. Forgiving. Kaiser wasn't stupid enough - nor familiar enough - to say it to his face, especially not so bluntly, especially not when he benefited from it too, but... yes.

It was while looking at Mr Hollingberry that Kaiser caught sight of Gunnar and Alessandro - a sight that in turn caught him entirely off guard, as he'd not expected to see either, and had missed the introductions what with being preoccupied with Elio. But he recovered quickly, and let his gaze pass over both, and back instead to those in his immediate vicinity, silently hoping they were here for Gunnar, and not for Alessandro. If so, he would speak to the former only once the latter was not present. If not... well.

As for the kid, his name was covered, and Kaiser nodded to confirm. "Elio. He's my, ah, my son. Just turned three," he said to Mrs James, tacking that last part on because it tended to be the follow-up question. He tapped the wriggling Elio lightly on the chest with an index finger, and directed his attention towards the Senior Undersecretary; almost instantly, the straining to get away became a little less pronounced. Lapped up attention, this kid. Didn't seem to care where it came from. No self-preservation skills. "He wants to see Mr Hollinberry," Kaiser added, by way of explanation, thankful it was more professional to not just outright say 'Charles', as that would be Elio's cue to pick up the heart-rending tears until he found himself in the Minister's giant grandfatherly arms.

When Candela introduced herself, however, Kaiser went suddenly quiet. Again, hard to say for sure why he. Maybe just to allow her the time and space to talk for herself, woman to woman, without his intruding. Maybe it was something to do with there being a new Senior Undersecretary - a stark betrayal and a huge relief all at once - requiring new introductions. Maybe it was mention of the battle. Maybe all of the above, and then some. He left his attention drift away, but was brought sharply back by a sudden crushing pressure on his hand. Kaiser squeezed Candela's hand back almost automatically - twice, one, two - though her grip had relaxed pretty quickly. He didn't question it, didn't linger on it, did not allow himself to fret in this moment, all things considered.

"Cześć." This was to Tomasz, and Kaiser smiled his way too, made sure to speak clearly while facing his friend head on. "Yes, this is Elio. Will you join us after the orientation? You can meet him properly." Unless Tomasz had a shift today, of course.

For a tiny three year old, Elio really was deceptively heavy, or maybe Kaiser had just been carrying him for too long; he wasn't exactly a Tomasz Łaska levels of fitness, or really anything close, and the wriggling somehow made him seem heavier. Any time Charles wanted to swoop in and take over for babysitting purposes, Kaiser was ready to let him.
