He gave her a big smile and a pancake that he had scrapped off the griddle leaving behind half of it and then waved his flipper in Sachin’s direction. ”You remember Sachin?” The two had met briefly at a previous year's orientation and then while fighting the fires in the Technology Center, but it never hurt to reintroduce people.

Jane continued to be amused, both at Conley's insistence on first names and his pancake-making ability (or lack thereof). She looked over at Sachin as his name was mentioned and nodded a greeting at him. "Of course I remember you. How are you doing this new year?" She certainly remembered how welcoming both Conley and Sachin were at her first Ministry gala, but she remembered even more the incident in the Technology Center last year. When you've spent several hours battling a raging fire with someone, you weren't likely to forget them.

To distract everyone as he cleaned up he asked Jane, ”How was Germany?” And as soon as he realized it, maybe he shouldn’t have asked her with so many people around. [/color]

Jane's attention was abruptly drawn back to Conley as he mentioned her recent trip. She was a little surprised that he would mention it here; it was something she hadn't wanted to draw attention to. On the other hand, Conley might be right in treating it openly, as just a casual holiday. "Oh, you know how lovely Europe is during the holidays. It was a nice outing before I start on my new project this year. And how about our friend from the Pet and Plant Cafe?" she continued, looking from Conley to Sachin and back again. "Was he allowed to come home with you?" Jane, for some reason, really wished for that cat to have found a home. He didn't seem that taken with her, or she would have adopted him herself.

Jane looked down at her plate and contemplated the partial pancake, which managed to be both burnt and underdone all at once--it did not look like it would help her portkey-lag. Perhaps if she put some jam in it and rolled it up like a German pancake.

Hearing the Minister speaking off to one side, Jane turned toward him. He was looking decidedly better than the last time she'd seen him--he seemed fully recovered, in fact. "Good morning, Minister, it's good to see you looking so well."
