Peggy has muffins Constant Vigilance! O_O AWAKE! Peggy had been up for hours. Even with the assistance of magic (dozens of bowls being stirred at once, thank you), it was quite the undertaking to create the Muffin Mountain. The tower of baked goods rose above her head, and she was hopeful she'd prepared with enough charms to keep it from toppling over on the first person to try to take a muffin. Maybe she would encourage folks to take from the top. She hadn't signed up to chaperone muffin Jenga, after all.
Just as the first employees arrived, Peggy pushed the cart, Muffin Mountain wobbling into the atrium with one hand, wand trained steadily on the muffins with the other. A lidded mug floated behind her, as she only had two hands and wasn't about to leave her coffee behind. She was nervous about that wobble in the muffins, but there was no room in her mind for doubt with keeping the coffee levitated and the muffins situated.
She positioned the cart containing Muffin Mountain next to Raini and Aurora at the smoothie station and let out a sigh of relief. Moving the muffins had been the scariest part.
She adjusted her apron and took a sip from her coffee mug, keeping one eye and a ready wand on the mountain of muffins. The muffins were carefully arranged by variety, with denser flavours at the bottom and fluffier varieties at the top where they wouldn't be smushed. "Anybody want a muffin?" she called with a smile. This was already more fun than last year's orientation, and much less stressful. Plus, she'd never turn down an excuse to bake an excessive number of muffins. ***** Gabriel was pleased for the breakfast themed soiree the Ministry was hosting this year. While he liked getting dressed up as much as the next person, he was much more comfortable in every day clothes. But--he at least wasn't late. Clad in a neat black sweater over a white shirt and grey tie, plus black slacks (obviously), he ran his hand through his hair as he walked into the atrium.
YATI Year Three.
At least he had more friends now, both at work and outside it. Plus, he was one of the oldest YATIs now, since it was only a three year program. He spotted a young woman (Dottie) whom he didn't know yet in...red?? pants and made a slight detour on his way in to greet her. "Good morning," he said cheerfully. "I like your outfit!"
He was a little confused by the brightly coloured pants, but, hey, not everyone wanted to dress in black and white like he was today. |
