He was surprised by the arm grab when she pulled him towards the water, trying to not immediately jerk away. He knew she didn't mean anything by it, but he was not at all fond of being touched.

It was fine though. This was fine. He let himself get pulled.

When they were closer to the water and her voice dropped, he raised an eyebrow surprised, but happy to hear, she already had a strategy.

Except.

His first inclination was to say no, because what if they lost house points by not following instructions? And he opened his mouth to answer as such, but then snapped it close noticing her expression. Her excitement at the prospect was so similar to the look his sister's often gave him to get him to go along with their silly ideas. He wasn't sure if Lisa had been teaching a class on how to get Evan Nam to say yes to any scheme, but this was it. So he nodded. "I'm in." Even if they didn't look for the prize, as long as they were exploring and using their wands it was still technically doing what they were supposed to right?? Right. "You ready? We've only got 20 minutes and a lot of ground - er... water - to cover."

Well, within the boundaries anyways.

Taking a deep breath of air, he ditched his robe over his swimwear, slipping it into his bag and putting it up higher away from the water and out of the way from others, before returning back to the water's age and... eating the piece of gillyweed as he started into the water.

Ugh. Gross.

Kinsay would've felt all sorts of guilty if she knew about his aversion to touch. It was just. She was just. SO EAGER. SO EXCITED! How many times had she come to the lake in search of Sir Bartholomew Henry, only to drag her feet back to the castle in horrible disappointment? Far too many times. Maybe ten, at least. But this time they had something that changed the whoooole game. Gillyweed was the secret to finding the squid. She just knew it.

So when he agreed to ditch the lesson plan and join her in the hunt for Henry, Kinsay's WHOLE face lit up. She wanted to hug him, but she didn't because that might be weird. Maybe she'd hug him after their swim, once they became bonded for life because they found the giant squid together. Maybe then.

She shook her fists with excitement, bouncing up and down in place (but only a little bit, as she didn't want to draw too much attention). "Ready, Freddy!" She gave him an eager two thumbs up, before pulling her t-shirt over her hand and discarding it alongside her shorts. Taking Evan's lead, Kinz stepped into the water. "Here we gooooooo." She gave him a nervous sort of look and plugged her nose before popping the gillyweed into her mouth and....

Ew.

It was even worse than she was expecting it to be (and she had been expecting the worst).

The effects took place quickly. First the webbing of her feet and then her hands. Instead of staying above water to wait for her gills, Kinsay decided to make a S P L A S H! Hopefully Evan would join because it was kind of hard to breathe up there. She'd just wait here under the water for him. Breathing was way easier in all the wet.
