Frowning when she heard the sniff and felt like maybe she was upset, but wasn't everyone upset? The feast didn't seem as happy or maybe that was just her take on it.

She moved to the side of the bed and leaned against it. "Weird is probably the best words I could have found. I mean things are different, everyone changed last term because they were forced to change. I think it is going to be weird for awhile." That was the best answer she could come up with even though she wished she could say more, but she really just didn't know what else to say.
Margaret hugged her knees to her chest and looked over at Gemma. She was kind of surprised the older girl was so calm. Maybe she had done all her crying over the summer. She'd...Mamie had...well, she had done some crying over the summer. Some back in May. But mostly? Mostly she tried to think of all the good things about Hogwarts. Like her kind housemates and the sweet houseelves and flying and her favourite professors...

She sniffed again. "I got an owl over the summer," she whispered. "What if they take him away?" Or her new broom, what if they changed the rules again and destroyed her broom? After how hard she'd worked to convince her parents flying was safe, she couldn't face them broom-less. "I wish it could all go back to normal, like when nobody knew or cared if I was Muggleborn," she said, back at normal volume. She squinted slightly at Gemma. The fourteen-year-old sounded very wise. Did having a parent die do that? Or maybe it was just due to her vast experience of being a teenager. "Are you going to do the play?" Maybe if they talked about something fun, it would feel less weird.
