MAXIMUS JAMES: ORDER ALIGNED

While his wife had quite literally led the charge upon the castle of Aurors and Order-aligned, Maximus James did not share her unabashed courage to take such a leadership role and, frankly, he was unlikely to be able to keep up on the front lines with her. His objective was to take a defensive approach to keep their side alive, do what he could to help those injured, and ultimately, hopefully find their kids safe and sound.

There were students alongside the adults fighting along the way, and Max had kept his eyes peeled for any sign of the twins on the physically-, mentally-, and emotionally-draining trek up to the castle. All the students he'd seen were older - couldn't have been younger than Phoebe and Teddy - so he prayed to Merlin that Kizzy was somewhere safe, and hopefully the three of them were sticking together.

On the way, he also hadn't been able to get a glimpse of Vivi in the fray, but he reasoned that was a good thing, and it further solidified his decision to help with those in what had become the makeshift triage area. If she was hurt, he'd know, then. But for now, no news was good news.

While Max wasn't a professional healer, he was adept at defensive spells and was quite capable of helping people from the grounds to the Great Hall and being a reassuring presence to those in need. Sometimes it just helped to not be alone, especially in a room where so many people were horribly suffering and scared. He wasn't alone in that mission, and he gave respectful nods and reassuring looks to those who had taken it upon themselves to help in this way, too, any time he passed them.

Upon helping another wounded get the attention they needed, his focus shot to the door at the loud bang, unsettled by how close to the Great Hall it was, and watched one of his likeminded comrades (Kaiser) stumbling into the wall, visibly in some sort of agony. Max rushed to him, a hand instinctively coming to rest on the man's back as if to steady him. "Hey, hey, hey, I've got you." Sort of. More gently, he offered, "What do you need?" Was he hurt? Did he need to lay down?
