SOPHIE BROWN: ORDER ALIGNED

Despite the Minister's convincing, motivational broadcast, the decision to storm into the fray was not one made lightly. Sophie Brown, former Ravenclaw Head Girl, knew the risks. If she came to Hogwarts, she was more than likely going to be injured. Or worse. That was the reality of war. But... she had worked too long and too hard to go down swinging this early in her life, so there was hesitancy there. Then there was the factor of her two children at home, and how if she came to battle, Zander would undoubtedly insist to come, too, and what would happen to Amelia and Alfie Adair if they lost both their parents? Was it foolishness to come, when the well-being of their small children could be compromised by being orphaned?

But Sophie wasn't scared. Not for herself. She knew she was capable; she was agile, determined, and skilled. She had reckoned she could have been an Auror if she hadn't embraced her intrigue in wandlore at the age of eleven. Her entertaining of "what-if" situations as the simmering evil had snaked through the wizarding world had prepared her for the fight ahead. For this. She could handle herself and give these cultists hell.

She was scared for her family, though. Her friends. Sophie Brown could protect herself, but to what extent could she protect the people she cared about? There were too many of them, so many that the mere thought of this threatened to suffocate her morale. But... the way she saw it, there were two options: stay home with Zander and the kids for the sake of certain self-preservation, or... put her strengths to use. For good. The real greater good, not this delusion of the Neo-Alliance. She could make sure her family was safe by staying home, which was arguably a brave choice in its own right - but showing up here meant trying to ensure other families and their loved ones were safe, too.

The final decision was enforced by the knowledge that Piers was going, too, to fight for Curtis. They'd all faced their fair share of tragedy at Hogwarts - trauma, injury, death - that prepared them for this, and in the moments before the trio apparated to the Hogwarts grounds, Sophie Brown verbalized her love for her husband and father-figure and confidently asserted that they were going to be okay. And she believed it with her whole heart.

After all, they made for a dynamite trio: Piers had the experience, Soph had the gumption, and Zander had an unrivaled desire to defend others.

As ready as she felt, the whiplash of being gathered in relative safety with her loved ones to apparating into a warzone was jolting. The barrage of sounds, of flashes of light, of yells of anguish and terror were disorienting, and Sophie Brown first touched Zander's arm, then Piers' back, grounding herself with their presences. Okay. They were here. This was happening.

"Let's go." She brandished her vine-wood-with-Chinese-Fireball-heartstring wand threateningly as they hurried along, practically daring someone to mess with them.
