Ethan McCarthy - order aligned o'course Unforgivably Cursed | adultescent To say that Ethan did not like the fact that Minerva wanted to come fight alongside him was an understatement. He had a feeling that this was going to be a very dangerous situation and he knew that he’d be worried for her safety if she didn’t stay home with thier other children. But he also knew what he felt about their middle child being caught in the midst of this and he could hardly blame her for wanting to rescue him from it all, as well as keep the world a decent place for the rest of their family. He was glad he could convince their oldest children to stay behind however.
And he was glad to see the Gunters there as well - though he could not believe that little Xaria (she was still little to him ok) also wanted to join in the fray. Ethan had been looking for any sign of Morgan as they pushed the resistance back closer to the castle and honestly he thought it a good sign that he hadn’t seen him yet. He knew their middle child was the most impulsive of their brood of five and he didn’t want to see him doing anything reckless or dangerous. He knew he’d feel better after seeing him though, after so many months, and taking him home.
After shielding a few spells directed his way, Ethan caught up to Min and Oakey, just in time to see a flash of green light. “NOOOO!” he yelled, running closer to them, knowing exactly what that spell was and certain that it had hit his friend, but thank Merlin not his wife. But luckily it hadn't hit Oakey either (which was extremely lucky, he had to admit), but his bug? Ethan did not have time to process that before aiming his wand at the woman (Vesna) who tried to kill Minerva. "Stay away from my wife!!" he shouted, the fury burning in his chest. "Stupefy!" Ethan turned to look at Min and Oakey. "Are you alright?" He would never forgive himself if anything happened to her.
Wait, was that -- He stared at a familiar woman who seemed to be leading the opposite side, before looking to Minerva. "Is that Headmistress Truebridge?" He never would have guessed that she was on the side of an extremist cult. "Stupefy! Stupefy!" He sent a few more stunning spells into the crowd of Neo-Alliance members behind her, not yet able to bring himself to cast against her.
Oh... no... Inferi, wasn't it? And they had ahold of Professor Hadley. He... could not focus on two things at once and made the split second decision to stick with his wife and Oakey, defending against the alive people. He was aware of people casting incendio as well, so hopefully that would be enough to stave them off.
And as he held his ground, Ethan noticed another familiar face, this one younger - Nemesis, wasn't it? He knew them to be a friend of his son Morgan, since he'd invited them to a couple birthdays in the past. "Nemesis," he called out to the teenager, concern clearly coloring his voice and not realizing which side they were aligned with. "You shouldn't be out here. It's really dangerous." People were getting injured and killed. Ethan certainly didn't want to see that happen to a child, and... Nemesis really kind of looked worse for the wear. That didn't mean Morgan was also around here somewhere, having the bright idea to get himself involved too, did it?
