Mamie was lucky she was looking around for someone to freeze instead of waiting to see if she'd successfully frozen Atlas, because she serendipitously looked right at Fiona when the older girl pointed her wand at her.

Not waiting to actually hear the girl cast, (a good thing, since apparently the fifth year could do non-verbal spells!) Mamie ducked to the ground to avoid getting frozen. Whew! Who knew a group "duel" could be so physically involved? She clambered slowly back to her feet, wand ready to freeze one of those purple-headbanded-folks or protect herself again. Were they allowed to use the shield charm? She couldn't remember.
