It was a testament to everything that although this was the most Nem had really faced off with a teacher since their primary school days - quips and pseudo-innocent remarks here and there didn't count - it wasn't remotely fun, or invigorating. Like they'd claimed about the Dumbledore situation, it simply was. They stared unflinchingly at the professor again.

"I gave you plenty of reasoning. You won't accept it." Nem knew that what Recard had really wanted was a simple argument that called in facts or speculation from the specific context of Dumbledore, Potter, and the prophecy. The point remained, however, that they were just not interested in picking apart those details and injecting morals to provide that. The general observations had been valid, and all they were willing to muster up, so Recard's comparison between themselves and Stark had about as much of an effect in stirring them up as the claim that they had been acting like a misunderstood teenager. Merlin only knew where she'd pulled that one from.

There was one more thing, though, while they had the opportunity to slip it in.

"I had hoped a professor would be able to handle students who can think critically, without getting all worked up about it. But then what can we expect from a teacher who can't protect her students, or her colleagues. Or maybe just won't." Nem cast a split-second glance towards the other side of the room, to Bernadette Grantham and the majority of the other kids who had been taken away. "Or maybe just doesn't want to. Your advice makes a lot more sense now."

Anyway. Back to the window again, Nem propped their head in their hand, and studied the view once more. "I'm done." One hundred percent. With the assignment too; it didn't need anything else.
