Kale thought it was CRAZY hypocritical that Recard was lecturing his peers on tough decisions, when the Professor (heck, all of the Professors) had all but abandoned their students to the horrors of the Hoods™. Someone that taught history ought to notice when they were living through a magical historical event. She didn't like his peers attitudes? Fine. But then do better for the kids. Do better than a Dumbledore.
His Dad would have. His Dad woulda done a lot of things.
And the annoying thing was he couldn't even say any of this cuz he was, like, under the constant watch of the Hoods. And also cuz it was rude. Kale was so far gone that he wanted to wound the teachers here.
But he wasn't so much himself that doing something FABULOUS like bedazzling a hat gave him joy. Not right now. Still, he quietly collected the items he needed to make a hat and went to work.
