Contrary to popular believe, Javier Hernandez was not stupid. He hadn't particularly enjoyed history of magic class, but he knew what "for the greater good" meant and none of these new changes sat well with him. It was also rather...BOLD of Charles to be hanging Grindelwald's portrait in the atrium for all the world to see. Absolutely no subtly there, hmm?

When he heard about the fact that Hogwarts had been completely closed off to the outside since the start of term? Even MORE red flags went up. Thank Merlin he'd kept Cami home this year and continued homeschooling. He knew she was eager to join her classmates, but they had really lucked out by returning to England a few weeks after term started.

Although with all this nonsense that had been going on since they got back, Javier wondered if they should have stayed in Brazil.

None of this felt right. Javier, shockingly, admired muggle culture deeply - especially their sports. This was just the first step towards something worse, he knew it deep in his gut. These declarations of wizards being superior to muggles always ended up in chaos. People were going to get hurt. Some might even die. This was...an all around terrible situation.

As always, Javier was at this formal event simply out of necessity. He hated parties, ESPECIALLY fancy parties like this. All this greater good nonsense didn't make him feel any more at ease. Right now he wished he was at home, doing a puzzle with Cami, or having tea and crumpets with Khara as he told her more stories about his time in Brazil and she caught him up on everything he'd missed in England. But what was that saying? Keep your friends close but your enemies closer? And he wanted to see what this "new era" was all about.

Grabbing his name tag when he spotted it - and for once, feeling extremely relieved to see the writing "pureblood" scribbled across the bottom - he attached it to his jacket and looked around with a big sigh. The place certainly LOOKED a lot different. The place needed sprucing up, of course, but this was all...a bit much. Especially that monstrosity they'd placed in the middle of the atrium, where the Fountain of Magical Brethren had once stood.

Turning to the woman next to him (Sarangerel) he gestured to the new monument they'd put up, raising an eyebrow. "Well that is...something, isn't it?" he said. Now it was time for him to do what he normally did at parties - making small talk. Trying to get a feel for how everyone else felt about this nonsense. Counting down the minutes until he could duck out of here and go home. The usual.
