SPOILER!!: Question 1 catchup
Heath was relieved that Professor Peralta didn’t ask him what was bothering him. IF she had, he wouldn’t have told her. He didn’t want to look weak in front of his classmates, nor did he want his concern for his muggle dad to get her or himself in trouble with Rosier. He was so focused on trying to block out the music and the memories it brought that he almost missed Claudine’s grin. All he could manage in return was a slight smile. As the lesson began, he willed himself to tune out every sound except the professor’s voice, hoping that would be enough to tune out his worries as well.

Difficulties humans encounter in water… His first thoughts went to water pressure and its effects on the humans body, but that had already been said a few times. As he racked his brains for an answer, he recalled a small tidbit of information he’d learned in science class years ago. Something about a kid in another country who died from contracting a brain-eating amoeba after swimming. That was a thing, right? He raised his hand and said, “Some water environments have dangerous microorganisms, like flesh-eating bacteria or brain-eating amoebas.”

As soon as Heath heard the next question, he had a pretty good idea where this was going, but rather than state the obvious, he was going to try to think outside the box. The first thing that came to mind was incomplete forms of transfiguration. One could give themself a shark’s head or octopus’s tentacles to help them survive underwater, but that was transfiguration and this was charms class. Although the professor technically said a spell, not charm, he worried he’d look dumb if he gave that answer so he tried to come up with something else.

The idea of incomplete animal transfigurations got him thinking. Instead of turning into an animal, what if you got a real animal to guide you underwater? He remembered reading something about Animalis Fidelus, a spell to make animals temporarily loyal to a human. Theoretically, one would be able to use that spell to get a water creature to help, right? That answer sounded a little too outside the box! Not feeling particularly confident in either of the answers he came up with for the second question, he stayed silent for now.
