See, this was about as compliant as Ash was ever going to get. Uttering the words 'muggles are dumb' was ABSOLUTELY unheard of. And now her mouth was glued shut. She nodded at Devin. Had that kid ever seen her act normal? Nope. Ash thought about several things. She could write something on her arm, but that would be not very helpful to the lesson, and also very vague. Limited space. Alternatively, she could shut up and pretend to be compliant while still not answering the question. And yeah, she picked the second one. Instead, she just "nodded appreciatively" at what other people were saying, looking like she cared about this discussion.
Ash also looked miserable, although given the fact that she had looked miserable for the entirety of the school year, the hooded figures probably wouldn't notice. After all, they had never seen her any other way. Right? |
