"Evelyn," she corrected him with a soft smile, lowering the coffee cup from her face. "All the days seem busy, today's not different from the rest," Evelyn answered after a moment of thought. He wasn't technically her superior, but she still felt the need to make sure he didn't think she was slacking. That would be all sorts of unacceptable, both to her office reputation and also in general. "I thought I'd take a few minutes to drink this before heading back," she added, showing him her white mug with 'sooah' written on it in tasteful gold calligraphy. "Evelyn, yes, that's right." Of course it was, because she had just said so. Kaiser offered a little smile, mentally repeating it to himself a few times. Evelyn. Evelyn. Evelyn. Now that she had officially sort-of-introduced herself to him, it would be a lot more painful for both of them (but mostly for him) if he forgot it again the next time their paths crossed.
Because it always seemed unlikely to him that his colleagues would know him - and because he never expected them to remember his name - he returned the favour. "Kaiser." And then, "Right, things are rather hectic at the moment. I suppose it might be selfish to say I prefer it over having no work to do." Because busy days for him meant everyone else was likely run off their feet, particularly Minister Hollingberry, and likely Fletcher too. Taking a couple of steps closer, Kaiser ducked his head slightly to read the mug - even after all these years, fancy writing was a bit of an obstacle for him. "Soo...ah?" He looked back towards Evelyn's face for confirmation. Or rejection. |
