If the diagram looked too messy to make any sense, it was precisely because he was not concentrating. His mind was preoccupied with thoughts about what the Neo-Alliance was doing: torturing staff and students, removing all forms of communication, teaching anti-Muggle lessons ... it pained him that he could not do what is right and fight against the cult, lest he put his students and colleagues in danger.
At the sound of the knock, Aguilar immediately spun around in his chair and pointed his wand at the locked door. THEY WERE HERE TO GET HIM. He would stay calm. He would stay rational. He would do anything to protect the students. Taking a deep breath, he stood up and walked over to open the door. "Miss Turov," he said, breaking into a warm smile as relief washed over him. Of course - the alliance followers or the "inquisitorial squad" were not likely to knock politely on a Muggle-born teacher's door. He should have known. "Come in, take a seat." He opened the door to his office wider for her to enter. As soon as she'd knocked, Mamie had decided this was a bad idea. She didn't really know this new professor...what if he was on the bad guys' side? She started hoping he wasn't actually here. Then he opened the door and -whew- he looked nice. "Hi, professor." She smiled back, still slightly nervous, as she walked in and looked around. Wow. This guy really liked sports. He had so many Quidditch team pictures. She tried to look as she made her way to the chair but veered away to look more closely at the photos on the wall. They were signed, that was neat. "Is that you?" she asked, pointing. She glanced at the next photo over. Oh, he was in this one too. "Whoaaa... Are you in all of these?"
She had completely forgotten why she was here. On the plus side, she wasn't particularly nervous anymore. |
