Every muscle in her body felt as though it may snap in half without notice. Delaney sat rigidly in her seat, her back had never been so straight in her life. She focused on taking slow and calculated breaths as she avoided all eye contact with Rosier. And she was forever thankful that her body had refrained from jumping as the classroom doors were slammed shut. But she could not prevent the bile from rising in her throat as students around her started yelping in pain and others started to loose valuable facial features. Swallow. Swallow. Swallow. What makes muggles so bad?
Delaney could not stop her mind from immediately jumping to her step-father. Muggles like him stole people like her mother away from their family. He tore them apart. He made Delaney move across the country to a stupid little town in the middle of no where away from all her friends and her brother and her father. Of course that wasn’t actually true but to an eleven year old many things she understood to be true were far from the truth.
But Delaney knew better than to voice these thoughts. She decided for now it might just be best to keep her mouth shut.
