Quinn, on the other hand, wasn't so keen on it. In fact, he would rather not do it at all. "The flying... doesn't sound like something I'd like, honestly. I think I'd rather have my feet on the ground," he said, chuckling nervously.
Quinn turned to look at Violet, pulling it into his lap. "Oh, Violet? No, this is just a regular dahlia from my garden. The letter said we could bring pets, so I asked if I would be able to bring a plant—not exactly a pet, really, but not not a pet—and they said yeah. And Violet is one of my standout flowers, so I just had to bring it. I am really excited for Herbology, though! So many new plants, maybe I'll even be able to take some seeds home and plant some in my garden. You know, I went into Noltie's in Diagon Alley over the summer, and they had these really beautiful flowers called Puffapods, and I really wanted them because they came in all different colors, but then I found out that the seeds exploded if they fell from too high and on top of that they were pretty expensive, so..." Quinn stopped himself and blushed a bit. "Dang it, sorry, it happened again..." Quinn also tended to ramble when talking about things he really liked. This was a big part of the reason he wasn't the most popular back in school, and he was really trying to curb that impulse. "It's okay. I don't mind that you talk a lot." It gave her more time to eat Doritos, plot, and brood over hypothetical scenarios. Quinn's rambling about flora was even kind of soothing. She found it interesting that he had a plant as his pet. Maybe she should have thought of that. But the really fun-looking ones required proof of age that she did not have (on account of being eleven). Plus she wasn't responsible enough for a cat...so definitely would kill a plant. They seemed needier.
Eden decided to try and balance her talking-to-snacking ratio a bit. "For me, I'm really excited to explore the castle and find out what dorm I'll be in. I read Hufflepuffs are close to the greenhouse - I bet you'll be there. I was hoping for Slytherin but got a little grossed out by the pureblood lore and now I don't really care. But maybe we can go looking for a puffapod at school? The greenhouse is supposed to be super nice..."
