Violet raised her head when Headmaster Trent began to speak, but as he went on with his speech, her eyes narrowed in disbelief. That was all he had to say about the year?! That was it?! The man was incredible!
And just what instruction had they gotten from him that year? Being led into danger with no warning or instructions whatsoever and then abandoned while he ran off to do...whatever he had been up to all year. Because Violet was convinced now that Trent had been up to something, probably still was. And to think she used to defend him; she'd even liked him a bit, and taken his strictness and rude manners as just eccentricities, like some of her uncles. But he was no eccentric, he was downright dangerous.
Violet would never, never forgive him now, and she was determined to keep an sharp eye on him next school year and find out what he was up to, if it was the last thing she ever did (and it might be, actually, she thought to herself).
But for now, she was just going to try to eat something, and hope that her grandfather hadn't heard about his grandaughter becoming possessed by a ghost and disgracing the noble House of Blackthorne.
