She winced a bit when he got loud, for the first time smelling a bit of alcohol on his breath. But then she was confused when he stopped her from taking off the jacket. Was he mad or not mad? Were they or weren’t they going to her flat? He was so hard to read, and it made her stomach knot up, but then he did that thing that Conley did - pinched his nose. It lessened her anxiety just a bit.

When she sighed and said they’d go to his house, she was stunned. What was she supposed to say to that? She couldn’t go HOME with a MAN all ALONE. She’d never in her life been alone with a man somewhere that wasn’t public. But neither did she want to be left alone in the middle of London looking like a fairy godmother reject in the middle of the night, and Lon was walking away. When spoke back to her, she suddenly jumped to action, lifted her dress up and hurried after him, grabbing his arm impulsively so he wouldn’t leave her behind.
