Just as she was about to launch into another enthusiastic monologue about home, a girl younger than both of them walk into the common room with gray bag and position herself on a spot near them.
Serena was about to turn back to Violet when said girl - who she assumed was named Io based on the embroidery on the bag - announced that she was giving out frogs. Did she hear that right? Frogs? The girl stared until Io pulled out one from her bag, and she was pleasantly surprised to find that she was talking about chocolate frogs. "Oh chocolate!" She exclaimed in delight. She loooooved chocolate She stood up from her perch by the fire and approached the younger girl "May I?" She asks, gesturing at the bag. :: Io smiled, it was working! She was so clever. She nodded at the girl. "Yes, of course. They hop so eat them quick!" She warned. Her eyes went back to the book in her lap. Her DADA books was beginning to be her favorite to study. Quote:

Violet chuckled to herself, since they had just been working on those in Potions Seminar, and she wondered whether these had Croakoa or coffee beans and hot peppers in them. Was this girl trying to buy their loyalty with chocolate frogs? Well, Violet supposed that was one way--though she wondered what sort of bargain she would be making if she took one.
Then she noticed the embroidery on the bag--Io Craft-Baker? Had this kid made these frogs herself? They looked a lot better than the ones Violet had managed in potions--her brewing skills were excellent, but she was rubbish at art, so her attempts to mold a frog were rather embarrassing. She got up and walked over to take a better look. "Hey, isn't that your name on the bag? Did you make these yourself? Because if so, they look rather good." She looked up from her book to acknowledge the other girl. "Yes, that's my name. It's after one of Jupiter's moons. Its a family thing. I just got these before I came. My Mother buys them at Diagon Alley when she goes. They are delicious. I'll make sure she buys more for me to share." She was so pleased, after all, building trust is a way to also gain loyalty.
"Uh, what are your names?" She asked the other girls. |
