Anyone want to pair up with him? Rhibear ~ Madam Solo ~ ❄ Showtunes > Everything ❄ ~ Accio Jedi ~ Gryffinclaw ~ Just a doll Heath saw Claudine fall into the muck out of the corner of his eye; it took everything in him not to react. Any other time, he would’ve offered her a hand up, but that would give Trent something he could use against them both and he would not let her be used as emotional leverage! It was bad enough that she was only in here because of him - and it just got worse! Oh, so there’s the sick twist we were missing, Heath thought to himself. I was wondering when that would come into play. And I take it by “help”, you mean turn us as evil and ruthless as yourself… Outwardly, he was as silent and stoic as ever, but inwardly, he was a jumbled mess of emotions. There was confusion over why Trent was so keen to pit them against each other, anger both at the headmaster for betraying his trust and at himself for ever trusting him in the first place, but mostly he felt guilty that Claudine was about to get hurt and there was nothing he could do to stop it.
Heath distracted himself by weighing his options. His first instinct was to fight a dummy, but it was becoming increasingly obvious that everything Trent said was some sort of cruel trick. Why would the dummies be different? Yeah no, he was not willing to die here or lose limb or an eye, thanks! Although he didn't want to live with the guilt of hurting a classmate (nor did he want them to live with the guilt of hurting him), the more he thought about it, the more he thought that might be best for all involved. He may dislike one or two people here, but he didn’t think any of them were evil enough to try to kill him, which was more than he could say for the headmaster and his dummies! His opponent would surely hate him afterward, but at least this way, both of them would walk out of here alive…
He rolled up his sleeves and removed his tie, using it to pull back his hair. Although the gesture may seem superfluous on first glance, there was a point to it. The idea was to give his opponent less to grab on to, especially if he wound up fighting a dummy at some point. He looked around at the other students. “Who-” He almost said, “wants to be my partner” but stopped himself just in time, as that sentence was inaccurate on two counts. 1) they weren’t partners, and 2) he was sure none of them wanted this! “- is going to fight me?”
