Sophie took a minute to think about Ashley's question. Classes were interesting and fun. The grounds were amazing to explore, and of course the castle was just incredible. She hadn't even explored a tenth of it yet. "I like our classes the best so far. I really want to learn as many spells as I can. What's your favorite part? Also, you surf? That's really cool. I've never been surfing but back home my dad would take me to ride horses sometimes. That was always really fun!"
"Cool. I live in Sydney mostly, where my dad is in charge of... some company. I forgot which one. Your family has a bookstore? Epic! Then you get to be nearby books." Ashley secretly wondered what it was live to live in a village, but she was afraid to straight-up ask. "I like spells too. Especially healing spells. People get hurt at the beach all the time, so maybe if I become a lifeguard, I can actually heal them instead of... Y'know, broken necks, and all that other stuff. Sometimes I wonder why magic is a secret, but I think it's because people would hunt magic down if the knew. It's sad though." She shrugged. "Anyway, you've ridden a horse? I don't even know if it's legal to do that on the streets where I live. You probably need a permit. I've only been in cars." She liked Sophie. She was so interesting... and... not annoying. The wizarding world was so fascinating. Maybe if Ashley learned enough magic, she could figure out how to save muggles with magic without them noticing what was happening. It probably involved wiping memories. Which probably required a permit. Ashley refocused on the room. "Is being in a half-muggle family like being in a wizarding family? Because if you have magic, why not use it? Because even though there are muggles, they still have access to magic sorta."
