It would be better to talk about it after the kids had gone to bed.

But judging by Sammy's excitement, he had a feeling that that was not going to happen.

Alec smiled as he wrapped an arm around his wife's shoulders and kissed the top of her head. She also didn't need to say anything because he could guess what it was she was going through. Their youngest was getting his wand and about to start his first year at Hogwarts. And even worse? Their oldest was pretending to be an expert and giving advice on the topic of wands. It was nothing short of emotional.

Sammy didn't see the shaking of her hand that Cece was doing and so, he didn't say anything. Besides, he had other things to think about. Like how cool his wand was going to be and if it was going to be anything like this wand over here. He pressed his nose and both of his hands right up against the glass, trying to get the best look possible. THIS was the only thing he could worry abou-

Ruffle!

At the hair ruffle, Sammy backed away from the display and turned to look at Mum and then at Cece. Oh, it was advice time? He was listening. He was READY. Cece was giving the advice, after all, and he trusted her opinion times a million. He tilted his head and furrowed his eyebrows when she talked about some wands not going well with some witches and wizards. But it wasn't until she started talking about peanut butter sandwiches that he.....

....... wrinkled his nose.

Who would pair peanut butter with HAM?! GROSS!

And he had a feeling that sandwich would be VERY dry. Too dry. And very wrong.

But Cece was talking some more, this time about magic and a tingly feeling, and so, he tried to concentrate on her, instead. "I bet my wand will be great as well. And VERY cool!" He nodded, almost as though he was confirming it. "Thanks, Cece! I-" He lowered his voice. "It's just a little scary, you know?" He shrugged, almost as if he was shrugging it off. He was nervous, yeah, but he was still excited for that wand!

Speaking of..... "Mum? Dad? Do you think it's time? I think it's time!" And the sooner they got a wand, the sooner they could go and get some peanut butter and jam sandwiches for themselves, right?

Right?

Too dry INDEED. Cece was super pleased to see that her analogy had hit home with the little bro, making this whole advice thing that much easier. Did her mum and dad SEE how amazing she was doing at this big sister gig she'd been working for ages now? She was a total pro.

While the blonde didn't think Sammy needed to be scared, she could take a hint, so she nudged him gently and offered a reassuring smile. "You'll be great. You're my brother, after all. Greatness runs in our family!" She had lowered her voice too, not too much because cecelias weren't meant to whisper, but low enough that she hoped it'd stay just between the two of them. LAST thing they needed was for mum and dad to start GUSHING about each other's accomplishments. Then they'd get that heart eyes look they got sometimes that seemed to distract them and Sammy would NEVER get his wand. They couldn't have that.

"Oh it's definitely time!" Cece bounced on the balls of her feet, second-hand excitement filling her to the brim. This was cool.

"I think your sister is right, Sam. It's time." Ella felt so nervous for him, but also excited, but also sad because her baby boy wasn't a baby anymore and HOW? Merlin, she was emotional. Looking to Alec because her eyes might have been doing the misty thing, the dragonologist casually wiped at her face.

Oh Merlin, now mum was crying. "Hurry Sam before she starts blubbering all over the place," The fourteen year old teased, earning a playful shove from their mother.
