He pretended that the countless mornings he had staged foaming at the mouth (too much mint toothpaste helped with the look) because he was so rabid from the isolation that was homeschooling. Only Cooper was anything but isolated. He just liked to play that card a lot whenever the debate of 'will he, won't he?' came up with Hogwarts. Just one of the many index cards in his stack that he pulled out when such debates over the dinner table occurred.
Fresh from Malkins and his new school robes in the bag in his hand, the budding third year whistled to himself as he made his way down the street...until he saw someone standing on one of the tables outside of Florean Fortescue's. It took him approximately three seconds to place the all-too-familiar head of blonde hair before he was pulling out his latest dumpster find turned restoration project turn friend: his Poloroid SX-70 camera.
After making sure everything was locked and loaded, he lifted the view finder to his eye and waited for just the right moment to snap a shot of Kiz looking both absolutely adorable in her curiosity as well as absolutely ridiculous in her lack of manners. KUCHEEEEEEEEEEEER.
That was the thing with these old camera, especially those repaired by the hands of a teenager. They made REALLY loud noises. Manners were not something Kinsay was concerned about at the current moment. In fact, manners were not something she frequently thought about at all. The only times she called them to mind were when daddy would remind her, but even then she did not usually climb onto tables whilst wearing shoes. She likely wouldn't make a habit of this either, but she was a little girl hyper-focused on a task. In other words, until she could find a way to open the umbrella, Kinsay James could not be stopped.
The eleven year old frowned as she lifted the corner of the umbrella even higher and stuck her head under. Hm. This would be harder than she thought. There was only one feasible option here and it was to TUG. Giving the umbrella a pointed look, she grabbed a fistful of the fabric and began tugging with all of her might. Biting on her tongue and leaning back to add more--CLICK! There was a click! She HEARD it!
Only the delight that had registered on her features did not last any longer than two seconds because that's all it took for her to realize that the click had not come from the umbrella afterall, but was instead the sound of an old-school camera. One that was being operated by none other than cousin "COOPER!!"
Yup. She was squealing.
In any other circumstance she would have run to throw her arms around him in a kizzy-cuddle, but as it was she was still stood on the table. The tiny blonde did throw her hands into the air though, as a consolation. Maybe he knew how to fix this umbrella. He could fix old cameras into new, so obviously he had experience with making complicated things work like they were supposed to.
