Maya froze for a moment when she heard a girl address her and give her a warning about the fountain. Her parents had told her that one shouldn't speak with strangers freely and not to take their candy. That was how a kidnapping happened. She was sure the rules didn't apply when it was someone who didn't look much older than herself and was offering advice... did it?

She wrestled the idea in her mind before noticing how incredibly stunning the girl's eyes were. Violet. Maya had never seen those before. "T-thank you. I'll be careful," she said, still a bit mesmerized. She stopped leaning against fountain, not wanting to anger it. She wondered if she ought to throw a coin in to please the fountain so that would be able to wait there a little longer for her family. But what if the fountain didn't like her money?

"Do you know if I could... toss something in there?" she asked. It was a common thing to make a wish in a fountain outside of the magic world. Did they do the same here? The violet-eyed girl seemed to know a lot more than Maya did about this magic stuff and she had a million questions she would love to ask.
