But on the topic of metal allergies, she had to agree with her housemates: either Phoenicia or Island had this one right. Bernie was going to agree with Phoenicia.
"What she said," she tilted her head toward her roommate, trying to not be so obvious that she'd forgotten her name and everything just now. "A metal allergy is like when you wear a cheap necklace your dad bought you because it's the best he can afford but OF COURSE it's like 30° Celsius that day and he INSISTS you wear it, so you do, but you sweat a ton because you don't have a car and have to walk everywhere with your da, and of course the stupid necklace turns your neck green, so even when you take the cheap thing off, you still look like you're wearing one?? Is that a metal allergy?"
She scratched her head with her right hand where a not at all cheap charm bracelet was jingling and catching the light. Huh. Who had given THAT to her? Certainly not her father.... but Bernie couldn't remember for the life of her where she'd gotten this nice bracelet...
