But today, today he felt like going inside. His patent for the Roomba 3000 had just been approved and so he was feeling particularly joyful and ambitious today (not that his face would have given any of this away). He didn't touch anything in the FREE STUFF bin and avoided the (presumably) musty second-hand clothing on the one side of the store. Instead, he busied himself with inspecting a load of gears and bits and bobbles that were together in a box, his profile visible through the front window of the store.
Interesting items they had here, hmm. Anything useful? One thing about being just on the cusp of being famous was that she had little need to continue all the various odd jobs she had acquired while trying to help Jerry make rent on their flat. Only whenever she thought about dropping any of them - minus the waitressing - she felt a peculiar void begin to form in her chest. Almost as though these odd jobs, some more thrilling than others due to their associates and them tapping into her animagus abilities were tangible to her existence and without them she would be less of herself.
It was inconvenient. Truly.
It was on behalf of one of those associates that she entered the junk shop today, though she was also looking for anything that may serve as a prop on set as well, and her pale slender fingers were just reaching for the knob on the door of the shop when she caught a familiar face inside. Thankfully his essence was not of the off putting variety, unfortunately he had left an entirely different impression upon her that haunted her thoughts at the most inopportune of moments. Breathing in the fresh air of the street, Valerie stepped inside and approached him from behind.
"I had never taken you of the sort to be drawn towards the steampunk aesthetic," she mused a bit while gliding to a stop beside him, one of her long pale fingers slipping through one of the holes in one of the gears to lift it and wear it like a ring as she examined it in the dusty light. "Or do you have a talent for metal charming that you neglected to inform me of during out last meeting?"
