Grae couldn't believe that she had been working for the ministry for almost three whole years now without ever stepping foot in the Greenhouses. And they were only two floors above her department! After entering the room, she spent the first few minutes admiring the ambience and scenery. There were quite a few plants that she'd never seen before. She grabbed a glass of champagne - because what was a Ministry party without some bubbly - and headed over to the centerpiece, where quite the crowd seemed to be gathering. Grae decided to jump in on the first conversation she overheard: an unfamiliar woman (Eureka) talking to Conley and someone that looked to be his guest.

"Me?" That was stupid, he was looking at her so he must be talking to her. "Yeah. Not here, though. I came across a herbologist in Norway who kept one in his greenhouse." She tucked a lock of hair behind her ear nervously. "I'm Eureka, by the way. I just came back to DERP this year again as a researcher." Should she stick her hand out to shake?? Very nervous.

Ah, a herbologist! "Welcome back," Grae chimed in, giving the woman a friendly smile. She wondered how long it had been since she worked here. The girl didn't look familiar, but maybe they had run into each other during Grae's first year at some point? "So you probably know all about this plant then." She gestured grandly to the odd-looking centerpiece in front of them. "Anything special about it?" There was most definitely something special about it, or else they wouldn't be having the annual party in the greenhouses. She was sure that the DERP had something exciting up their sleeves. Grae wondered what it was.

Another year, another Ministry party that he felt obligated to attend. Ryder made his way into the greenhouse, straightening his tie and thoroughly dreading the impending socialization. He didn't notice too many familiar faces yet, which was even more disappointing. It was one thing to chat with people he already knew - but making small talk with strangers was downright miserable. He was about to take up a spot at the corner of the room when he noticed a fellow DMLE employee observing the centerpiece.

Kiko hates being in crowds but since this was a ministry gathering she knew it would be best (as an adult) for her to mingle and share Christmas stories to other adults. Taking a deep breath and composing herself before stepping inside the place her eyes wandered around the area.

Did she know anyone? Perhaps, not. Mingling wasn't something she's best at, she was a shy person and often really quiet. She opted standing near the wall like she usually does and tried her best to smile at the others when they meet eyes.

Kiko made her way towards the refreshments, drinks would calm her down and maybe stare at that large flower with its ridiculous sign that says not to touch it. "Looks, cool" she said under her breath, staring at the centerpiece flower.

Well, talking to Kiko wouldn't be totally atrocious. At least they had met before and had a department in common. Not that he spent much time talking to his coworkers - he was usually stuck at his desk or busy in the courtroom. Sighing, he strode over to Kiko, accepting the fact that he needed to be somewhat social this evening. "Koline," he said with a nod as he approached her. Ryder glanced up at the plant in amusement, letting out a chuckle as he recognized the corpse flower. "Nothing to liven up a party quite like a plant that smells like a dead body when it blooms." Hopefully the DERP had a plan in mind to cover up the odor. That plant looked like it could bloom at any moment.
